Home tomorrow!
Tomorrow we are leaving Moldova and making the long trek home. Next time you hear from us we’ll be back in the good old US of A. See you all soon!
Hospice Charity Ball →
Privyet from Moldova! We are having an awesome time visiting Jeremy, and hanging out in the neat little country, which we’ve endearingly deemed “Russia Jr.” Last night we volunteered at the Hospice Charity Ball in Chisinau, the capital city. This video is from last night, and all of us are in the background helping out with the auction. Also an important note: the Princess of...
We just found out the Ballet we are going to see is about Pirates…more later.

Train to Irkutsk
Greetings Comrades,
We have made it to Irkutsk after 3 very long days on the train. The train ride was interesting to say the least. We shared our cabin with an entire army platoon of generally friendly officers who it seemed had not bathed in weeks. The smell was strong, but the spirits were plentiful. We have learned much about Russian culture from the time we spent on the train. First, if you...
We made it to Vladivostok!
We arrived in Russia this afternoon and we were thrilled to be on land. Going through customs was surprisingly easy, and we were happy to find out that we had no radiation when we were scanned. Huzzah! Our first impressions of Russia have been mixed. Vladivostok is not exactly a beautiful city but it has a lot of character. We are currently hanging out with some very friendly guys from Holland in...
On a Boat to Siberia
Somewhere in the middle of the ocean on our way to Russia, we stole a little internet to tell you about our trip so far.
We took off from Sakai-Minato at around 7:00PM, heading to Dong Hae, Korea. Our first night was fairly uneventful; we ate a dinner comprised of Soba (which we brought plenty of) and went to sleep. Little did we know what the next day would bring…
We made landfall in...

For those of you who are still frantically worried about us, I assure you we are still fine. In fact, we had a fantastic weekend. Friday night, we went over to one of Dave’s coworkers houses for dinner. We watched Star Wars Episode V, which was just as awesome as I remembered, but slightly better with Japanese kanje at the bottom of the screen. Dave was hoping it was going to be dubbed, but...

Earthquake
Konichiwa,
Dave and I just want to let everyone know we are completely fine. We are at least 14 hours away from all the action. Thank you for your emails wondering if we are okay, but I assure you all, we are alive and well.

Of course, I folded and gave Dave one of his birthday presents a week early…
Here he is playing his new Otamatone (a Japanese musical instrument much like a theramin or synthesizer). Here’s his rendition of “Paperback Writer.” Enjoy!
We encountered this at a shopping mall in Kobe.
Here is footage from the Sake Brewery Museum that we toured. There’s a section of Kobe with probably a dozen or more breweries where you can go taste sake for free and tour their facilities. We learned that the best way to drink sake is out of wooden boxes.
We somehow managed to completely forget to post all of the footage from our trip to Kobe last month. Here’s the first video of Kobe at night time. Isn’t it pretty?
Our Grand Return
Dave and l just bought our return flight for May 11th. Be prepared USA, we are coming home! But before we do, we will be taking a ferry boat from Sakai Minato, Japan on April 9th to the edge of Russia. From there we will travel on the trans siberian railway visiting Vladivostok, Irkutsk, Moscow and St. Petersburg. Then we will fly to Moldova to visit our friend Jeremy who is serving in the Peace...
