Somewhere in the middle of the ocean on our way to Russia, we stole a little internet to tell you about our trip so far.
We took off from Sakai-Minato at around 7:00PM, heading to Dong Hae, Korea. Our first night was fairly uneventful; we ate a dinner comprised of Soba (which we brought plenty of) and went to sleep. Little did we know what the next day would bring…
We made landfall in Korea at about 9:00AM. Because of immigration, we had to disembark and stay in Korea for a couple hours. We assumed Dong Hae would be somewhat entertaining, being a port city and all…we were gravely mistaken. Dong Hae was pretty meager, with one convenience store and several food marts that sold dried rays. We made friends with two Russians (Sergei and Daniel) who promptly bought us beers…we cracked them open by 9:30AM.
Back on the ship, we drank more, and discussed Russia, and how the Gulag has made people in Vladivostok and Irkutsk strong. They also gave us sausages and ham, along with bread and chicken a Russian Man’s wife made.
Hopefully we’ll have internet in the hostel we’re going to in Vladivostok so we can update when we reach our destination tomorrow.
