For the past couple days we’ve been exploring different parts of Moscow. Unlike the previous two cities (Vladivostok and Irkutsk), Moscow boasts exceptionally interesting architecture with long winding streets, and an overall more European Feel. Its actually mind-blowingly different than Siberia; its almost like a completely different country. The most interesting place we went to was Lenin’s Tomb, located in the middle of Red Square. According to the Russian Government, Lenin’s actual body is the corpse embalmed in the glass coffin. While it definitely looked like him, it seemed kinda fake (though I don’t really have a benchmark for these sorts of things). We also went to the opera last night, which was a collection of scenes from Rossini’s major operas. It was exceptional.
Tonight we’re taking an overnight train to St. Petersburg, which is our final stop in Russia before Moldova.
